|
Los Angeles left fielder Jim Brookins had a 4-RBI game, which helped his team beat the San Diego Captains, 5-4. The win went to Larry Shears in relief, making him now 1-1. Dave Fields took the loss for San Diego. With this game in the books, Los Angeles is 49-52, San Diego 52-50.
Brookins had a timely hit for Los Angeles in the top of the ninth. With Los Angeles trailing 4-2, he turned a 0-1 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 20th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Los Angeles.
"Whenever you can come through for your ball club, it's a great thing," said Brookins.
