The Chicago Hawks knocked off the Detroit Wolverines, 3-1, in American Baseball League action at Hyde Park Stadium. Chicago pitcher and Southampton, Pennsylvania, native Kevin Edwards had an outstanding performance. Chicago is now 52-50, Detroit 58-44.

Chicago right fielder Mark Morris contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 114th hit of the season and put the Hawks ahead, 1-0.

Morris called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
