Drillers Squelch Generals Offense in Shutout Win
|
Houston got a strong outing from Larry Bilski as the Drillers defeated the Atlanta Generals, 3-0, at Atlantic Station Field. Bilski yielded no runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 14-4. Tom McAteer earned the save for Houston, his 16th.
The Drillers had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 3-0, Houston, with one out. Atlanta, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Ed Mika dug in at the plate, but on a 0-2 fastball, he flied out.
Houston currently is in second place in the American Baseball League Western Division at 59-41.
