Los Angeles wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Syed Farooqi, falling to the San Diego Captains, 4-3. Farooqi threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Ray Beasley, now 7-6, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The losing streak for Los Angeles has now reached 6 games.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with San Diego trailing 3-2, Norm Lane jumped on a 0-1 fastball from Fred Wild for a 2-run home run, sending the Captains to a walk-off win.
"This place was rockin'," Lane said.
