Mission Field was the site for American Baseball League action featuring the Seattle Emeralds and San Francisco Seagulls.

A 3-RBI performance from Rick Stafne helped the San Francisco Seagulls beat the Seattle Emeralds, 10-3. Tim Stambaugh picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-0. He struck out 5 in 8 innings.

Bill Henry had a big 3-run home run for the Seagulls in the bottom of the second inning. With San Francisco trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from Denny Goldberg, the 15th overall pick in the 1965 draft, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Seagulls on top, 3-1.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Stafne told the San Francisco News. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."

Seattle falls to 7-3.
