The Cleveland Bobcats picked up a win at Lakefront Stadium, downing the Chicago Traders, 5-0. On the mound for Cleveland was right-hander Bruce Cardenas, who played a pivotal role in the win. Cardenas got the win, improving to 9-7. He gave up 5 hits and walked 4 over 7.2 innings. He allowed no runs. This win makes it 7 in a row for Cleveland.

Cleveland shortstop Ernie Wilkins contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 97th hit of the season and put the Bobcats ahead, 2-0.
