Traders Jolt Blockbusters, 7-6, with Late Rally
The Chicago Traders and Los Angeles Blockbusters obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

The Chicago Traders overcame a pretty good performance by Los Angeles third baseman Champ Arkle, beating the Blockbusters, 7-6, at Union Field. Arkle went 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Chicago pitcher Bruce Shone earned the win, hiking his record to 2-3. Bill Kaiser suffered the loss. Randy Weisenberg was credited with the save, his 31st in 32 tries.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Edward Almy was at the plate when Chicago scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Traders to go in front, 7-6.

"We ground out the win," said Almy. "That's all that matters."

The loss makes Los Angeles 46-57.
