Knickerbockers Deal Pittsburgh 7-0 Defeat
|
A 3-RBI performance from pinch hitter Jeff Madsen, who finished 5th in the NBL in extra base hits with 63 in 1966, led the New York Knickerbockers to a win over the Pittsburgh Industrials, 7-0. The Knickerbockers improved their record to 52-49 with the win over Pittsburgh.
With New York leading 4-0 in the bottom of the eighth, Madsen came up to bat against Pittsburgh pitcher Gene Steinhauer. Madsen hit a changeup to center for a bases-clearing double. His 9th double of the season put the Knickerbockers on top, 7-0.
"We took home the win," said Madsen. "What's not to like?"
