Explorers Grind Out 2-1 Win
Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Explorers beat the Blockbusters.

The St. Louis Explorers eked out a 2-1 win versus the Los Angeles Blockbusters at Corps of Discovery Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Jorge Gonzalez. He was terrific. Gonzalez got the win, improving to 10-8. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Explorers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when second baseman Fernando Martinez hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Dario Fontanez and made the score 2-0, Explorers. Martinez went 2 for 3 with a double.

St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood praised his team's "energy."

The win elevated the Explorers to 55-47.
