Generals Pocket 5-1 Win Against Houston
|
The Atlanta Generals got a stellar effort from pitcher Gary Ovitt, helping Atlanta score a win over the visiting Houston Drillers, 5-1. The winning pitcher was Ovitt, now 7-9. He tossed 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5. Atlanta goes to 46-56, Houston to 48-56.
The Generals got a big at-bat from right fielder Richie Lord. For the game, Lord was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 19th home run of the season gave Atlanta a 2-1 lead.
"Gary executed his pitches at a high level," said Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie.
