Boston turned a good performance from starting pitcher Nate Edwards into a 4-2 triumph over the New York Empires at Queens Field. Edwards, now 11-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Layton Taylor was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 17 of 22 save opportunities.

A key moment came with two out in the top of the second. That's when Edwards hit a curveball from Nate Frampton for a 2-run single, putting Boston up, 2-0.

"Bottom line," said New York skipper Dan Whiting, "we didn't play well enough to win."
