|
Baltimore right-hander John Fredrick pitched his team to victory over the New York Empires at Queens Field. The final score was 5-1. The win brings the Lords to 3-7, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
Mike Sheffield dealt the Empires a blow in the top of the first. Batting with the bases loaded and Baltimore leading 1-0, Sheffield hit a 3-1 cutter for a run-scoring single.
Fredrick told a Baltimore Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
