Milwaukee Bats Go Silent in 2-0 Loss
|
San Diego Sporting Complex was the site of a competitive game between the Milwaukee Dairymen and San Diego Captains.
The San Diego Captains, despite a fine performance by Milwaukee pitcher Chris Davalos, grabbed a 2-0 win at San Diego Sporting Complex. Davalos allowed 2 runs over 7 innings. San Diego reliever Ray Schifsky picked up the win, upping his record to 3-5. Chris Davalos took the loss. Earning his 18th save of the year was Jack DeWitt.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but Ed Payne didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Milwaukee trailing 2-0, Payne retired Roberto Matallana to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Payne, with a wink.
With the win, San Diego upped its record to 53-51.
