The New York Knickerbockers defeated the Cincinnati Packers, 10-4, at Roman Arena. New York first baseman Jeff Madsen had a superb performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. After today's action, New York sits at 50-55; Cincinnati slips to 49-56.

New York used the timely hitting of Bob White to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Knickerbockers on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Winning never gets dull," said White.
