The Houston Drillers defeated the Los Angeles Pobladores, 5-2, at San Vicente Park. Leading the charge for Houston was catcher Charlie Fee. He was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2. The loss makes Los Angeles 53-53.
Houston used a clutch at-bat from Mike Wells to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Drillers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Wells said (again).
