The Atlanta Generals had no answer today for Boston Terriers pitcher Paul Wiley. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 2-0. Atlanta managed only 6 hits off Wiley, who had 8 strikeouts.

The extraordinarily popular Wiley got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.

"Terriers fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."

In 21 starts this season Wiley has registered a 11-3 record and a 2.37 ERA.
