Detroit Wolverines starter Juan Rodriguez pitched well against the Boston Terriers at Wolverine Field, leading his team to a win, 5-3. In 7 innings, Rodriguez surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. He allowed 3 runs. Picking up the save was Alfredo Morales. He's now 3 for 6 in save chances.
Pineville, Louisiana-born Joe Cooper came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded and the Wolverines trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Detroit on top.
"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Rodriguez after the game.
Detroit is 57-47 and Boston, with the loss, 48-56.
