The Toronto Hurons used the hitting of first baseman Bill Hunt to subdue the New York Empires, 4-2. For the game, Hunt was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Herman Gagne finished to wrap up his 8th save. With the win over New York, the Hurons improved to 48-59.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but Steve Persenaire didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and New York trailing 4-2, Persenaire retired Javier Abarca to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Persenaire, with a wink.
