In a low-scoring contest between the Houston Drillers and the Seattle Emeralds, Angel Colon was the X factor. The Houston right-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. The Emeralds, at 47-57, have lost 6 straight games.

Randy Barnes, who finished 5th in the NBL in RBI with 95 in 1969, had a direct impact on the outcome. Barnes contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Houston up, 1-0.
