Generals Absorb 3-1 Loss at Atlantic Avenue Grounds

Boston and Atlanta took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Boston Terriers weathered an outstanding game by Atlanta second baseman Roberto Palacios to topple the Generals, 3-1. Palacios was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. Chuck Simoneaux earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-0.
Ron Roe had a big run-scoring triple for the Terriers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Boston leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from George Palmer, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1965 draft, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 4th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Terriers ahead, 3-1.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Roe.
Boston is now 53-51, Atlanta 47-58.
