Patrick Goes Distance in 4-1 Win
|
The San Francisco Seagulls downed the Chicago Hawks, 4-1, at Hyde Park Stadium. Stellar pitching by Jerry Patrick had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the ABL in strikeouts with 116, handcuffed his opponent all game. San Francisco, at 64-42, is 6 games up in the American Baseball League Western Division.
Patrick earned the win, going 9 strong innings for San Francisco. The native of San Jose, California, allowed just 3 hits, while striking out 8. Chicago hitters did next to nothing against the right-hander.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said San Francisco skipper Al Borie. "I can't complain."
