Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Seattle Emeralds and the Los Angeles Pobladores. Seattle won it, 2-1. Seattle starter Bill Lemley was in command. With the win, Seattle raised its record to 58-47.

Dave Thomas, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1970 draft, had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two out and a runner on 3rd, the Seattle catcher hit a run-scoring single. That put the Emeralds in front, 2-1.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Thomas told the Seattle Chronicle.
