Wolverines Whack Hurons, 11-1
A 4-RBI performance from the five-time All-Star Jerry Plumley helped the Detroit Wolverines beat the Toronto Hurons, 11-1. Larry Black, who led the ABL in wins with 20 in 1970, was the winner. He's now 1-1. The loser was Dan Crumm. Now 3-7, the Hurons have not played well this season.

With Detroit leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Plumley came up to bat against Toronto pitcher Dan Crumm. Plumley hit a changeup to right-center for a run-scoring double. His 5th double of the season put the Wolverines on top, 2-0.

"If you don't take any pitches off, you've got a chance to impact the game, and that's what we did," said Detroit skipper Kurt Peterson.
