The Milwaukee Dairymen spoiled a good performance by San Diego shortstop Ernie Wilkins, bumping off San Diego, 8-5, at San Diego Sporting Complex. Wilkins was 3-7 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The second-place Dairymen have won 5 in a row.

Larry Morford came through with a big-time hit for Milwaukee. The left fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the 14th inning to give his team the lead, 8-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It was terrific getting this win," Morford said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
