Sam Houston Field was the site of a competitive game between the Los Angeles Pobladores and Houston Drillers.

The Houston Drillers beat the Los Angeles Pobladores, 5-3, at Sam Houston Field. Chuck Walton, in particular, was impressive. He was 2-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 4 runs. Oscar Contreras finished to wrap up his 12th save.

With Houston leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Walton hit a fastball from Carlos Novoa for a bases-clearing double. It was his 21st double of the season and put the Drillers ahead, 5-1.

Walton called the win "a collective effort."

The win lifted the Houston record to 60-48.
