Burros Take Nail-Biter Over Captains
The Denver Burros handed the San Diego Captains a 6-5 defeat in 10 innings at Gates Crescent Park. Left Fielder Johnny Kolakowski starred for Denver. He went 2-5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The win went to Ken Torkelson in relief, making him now 2-1. Jack DeWitt took the loss for San Diego. Denver, at 52-55, sits in 5th place in the National Baseball League Western Division.

Denver got a clutch hit from Billy Powers. The third baseman socked a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was game-ender.

"It was a test of wills," said Clark Anderson, the Denver skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
