New York Beats Baltimore, 6-2
|
Roger Hickey left his imprint on the 6-2 New York win against the Baltimore Lords. Hickey, who is tied for 2nd in the ABL in total bases with 186, was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Jack Neenan was the winner. He's now 8-3. The loser was 1965 Rookie of the Year Award winner John Pardoe. Jack Pratt got the save, his 15th in 21 chances.
With New York trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the second, Hickey hit a cutter from John Pardoe for a 2-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Empires ahead, 3-2.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Hickey told the New York Daily News.
The win elevated the Empires to 56-53.
