Fields Shines in 8-3 Houston Win
|
A good performance from third baseman Wade Fields helped the Houston Drillers defeat the Los Angeles Pobladores, 8-3. Fields was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Drillers. The first-place Drillers, at 68-40, now lead their division by 8½ games.
Eddie Ellison went 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Houston. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mike Lowe. It was his 54th RBI of the season.
Ellison called the win "a team effort."
