Terriers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Lords, 2-0
|
Left-hander Alex Alonso mesmerized the Baltimore Lords while leading the Boston Terriers to a 2-0 victory. Boston reliever Tim Jepperson picked up the win, upping his record to 6-7. Pete Veirs took the loss. Earning his 5th save of the year was Marvin Walton.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Paul Knight came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Baltimore pitcher Pete Veirs, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boston on top, 1-0.
"It was a good effort all around," said Knight.
Boston, at 46-62, occupies last place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.
