Traders Get Dramatic 4-2 Win
|
Chicago Traders starter Skip Crawford turned in an exceptional performance against the Philadelphia Quakers at Union Field, resulting in a Chicago win, 4-2. The winning pitcher was Crawford, now 1-0. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2. Chicago goes to 2-0.
Ed White went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Chicago. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Darrell Klug. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.
Said losing manager Jeff Green: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
