Traders Squeeze By St. Louis, 2-1
|
The Chicago Traders got a magnificent performance from pitcher Bobby Peters, who muffled the St. Louis offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Traders win at Union Field. The win gives Chicago a record of 1-1.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 1-1, 1969 Rookie of the Year Award winner Larry Cox won it for Chicago. With a runner on 2nd, Cox hit a 1-1 fastball from Bernie Tate for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 2-1 win.
Peters attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
