Bluebirds Drop 5-2 Decision
The New York Knickerbockers locked up a win at Knickerbocker Stadium, knocking off the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 5-2. On the mound for New York was right-hander Jack Forbes. He played a major role in the triumph. The winner was Forbes. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Damon Rutherford. The Bluebirds drop to 4-7, as their stumbling start to the 1972 season continues.

The Knickerbockers got a big at-bat from left fielder Ron Freeman. For the game, Freeman was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave New York a 4-1 lead.
