The San Diego Captains earned a close win over the Los Angeles Blockbusters, thanks in part to Dennis McAteer. The San Diego left-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. San Diego is now 6-5.

The Captains got a big at-bat from third baseman Norm Lane. For the game, Lane went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave San Diego a 2-0 lead.

"Nothing fazes Dennis," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.
