Knickerbockers Score Late to Nip Eagles, 5-4
|
The New York Knickerbockers had to overcome a big game from Washington catcher Lee Perry to leave Monument Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 5-4, in 10 innings. Perry was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win was credited to 12-year veteran Brian Williams in relief. His record improves to 6-4. Billy Gray took the loss. New York, at 52-56, occupies 4th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
New York right fielder Javier Guerra delivered a solo home run in the top of the tenth. Overall, he went 3 for 5, picking up 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and knocked in 1.
