Pobladores Reel Off Another Win
|
In a low-scoring game between the Los Angeles Pobladores and the Twin Cities Northmen, pitcher Phil Lester was the difference-maker. The Los Angeles left-hander was tough as nails in the 3-1 Pobladores win. Lester, who led the ABL in innings pitched with 276.0 in 1972, went the distance for Los Angeles. He gave up 1 run on 9 hits. With the win, the Pobladores sit at 58-51.
The Pobladores got a big at-bat from left fielder Paul McCarthy. For the game, McCarthy went 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 14th double of the season gave Los Angeles a 2-0 lead.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said McCarthy.
