The Pittsburgh Industrials locked up a win at Allegheny Field, knocking off the Cincinnati Packers, 5-4. On the mound for Pittsburgh was right-hander Ron Winder. He played a major role in the triumph. Picking up the save was five-time All-Star Bob Cole. The first-place Industrials, at 60-47, now lead their division by 3½ games.
Alex Robinson had a big solo home run for the Industrials in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Pittsburgh leading 4-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a cutter from Chris Montgomery, who is tied for 8th in the NBL with a 2.55 ERA, and punished it. The result was his 13th home run of the season, which put the Industrials on top, 5-1.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Robinson told reporters after the game.
