Knickerbockers Dealt 7-1 Loss by Washington
|
Washington turned a good performance from starting pitcher David Rodriquez into a 7-1 triumph over the New York Knickerbockers at Monument Field. The 5th-place Eagles now have a record of 52-57.
Washington first baseman Vince Marshall contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 30th hit of the season and put the Eagles ahead, 5-1.
"Good pitching stops good hitting," said Marshall. "And vice-versa."
