Empires Win Squeaker, 4-3, Over Lords
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the New York Empires and Baltimore Lords.
The New York Empires picked up a win at Queens Field, taking down the Baltimore Lords, 4-3. Starting pitcher Nate Frampton was a big reason why. Jack Pratt snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 1.2 innings. He's now 5-5 on the season.
Had Dave Martin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Martin hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Empires.
"If you chase it, you need to get it," said New York skipper Dan Whiting.
The victory gives New York a record of 57-53.
