Hurons Popped by Generals, 6-4
|
The Atlanta Generals topped the Toronto Hurons, 6-4, at Atlantic Station Field. Atlanta third baseman Emil Wathen was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. Renie White closed it out for his 3rd save. Atlanta, at 51-55, sits in 5th place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.
Matt Legrow, who finished 3rd in the ABL in RBI with 111 in 1969, took Toronto hurler Mike Beers deep in the bottom of the third. His grand slam home run put the Generals on top, 4-3. In all, Legrow had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"It never gets old," said Legrow. "Winning, that is."
