Traders Win, 6-2, in Extra Frames
Fans who congregated at Corps of Discovery Stadium were treated to extra-inning drama.

The Chicago Traders got a hard-earned win over the St. Louis Explorers, 6-2, in 10 innings. Americo Garcia provided some offensive muscle for Chicago. He was 1 for 1 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win belonged to Mike Getz in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ken Morrison took the loss for St. Louis.

Garcia had a game-changing double in the top of the tenth. On a 0-1 changeup from Ken Morrison, he banged a 2-run double to center, giving the Traders a 4-2 lead. It was the 1st double of the year for Garcia.

Garcia said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."

The Explorers fall to 5-7 and continue their lackluster start to the 1971 season.
