Peters Impresses in San Diego Loss

St. Louis and San Diego duked it out and the Explorers came out victorious.
San Diego catcher Earl Peters was sensational. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. St. Louis beat the Captains, 7-5. Bernie Tate earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 4-4.
Tom Adams came through with a big-time hit for St. Louis. The first baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 7-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Adams said.
St. Louis is last in the National Baseball League Western Division with a record of 46-64.
