Bluebirds Deal Knickerbockers 7-3 Defeat
|
A good performance from catcher Jimmy Mara helped the Brooklyn Bluebirds defeat the New York Knickerbockers, 7-3. Mara went 1-2 with 3 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Bluebirds. The triumph puts Brooklyn at 56-53 for the season.
Jackie Cooper had a big run-scoring double for the Bluebirds in the top of the third inning. With Brooklyn leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a splitter from Jack Forbes, who is tied for 8th in the NBL in quality starts with 15, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bluebirds ahead, 2-0.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Cooper.
