Shaffer 4-for-4, Leads Seagulls to Win
|
Riding the 4-hit performance of the 26-year old shortstop Chuck Shaffer, the San Francisco Seagulls stopped the Twin Cities Northmen, 9-2, in 9 innings. Jerry Patrick earned the win to go to 6-2. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 8 innings of work. The Seagulls have an impressive 67-42 record.
With San Francisco leading 5-2 in the top of the eighth, Shaffer hit a splitter from Curt Kirkley for a bases-clearing triple. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the Seagulls ahead, 8-2.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Twin Cities manager Jason Gudim.
