Drillers Popped by Seagulls, 8-4
|
Behind the hitting of Scott Wagner, the San Francisco Seagulls stopped the Houston Drillers, 8-4. Wagner went 1 for 2 with 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Seagulls. Tim Stambaugh picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 14-6. Dave Maughan was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 7 save opportunities.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of Matt Legrow to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Seagulls on top, 7-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We didn't play well enough to win," Houston skipper Steven Palps said.
With the victory, the Seagulls upped their record to 65-44.
