The Detroit Wolverines got a superb performance from pitcher Juan Rodriguez, but the Toronto Hurons still won the game, 4-3. Rodriguez threw 7.1 innings allowing 3 runs. Toronto reliever Steve Persenaire picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Gary Doll was saddled with the loss. Herman Gagne earned save number 9 this season.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Roberto Hinojosa? The former first round draft pick Hinojosa stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Toronto up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.

"I was a little disappointed," said Detroit manager Alex Wobbema. "We could've and should've scored more runs."

Toronto now sports a record of 51-61.
