Hawks Drop Contest, 3-2, to Atlanta
|
The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.
Atlanta rode a fine outing from starter Dave Allen to victory over the Chicago Hawks at Hyde Park Stadium. The final score was 3-2. The Hawks drop to 5-6 and continue their mediocre start to the 1968 season.
Atlanta used a timely hit from Don Martinez to get the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Generals ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Dave is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie.
