The Toronto Hurons did just enough to secure a victory over the New York Empires, 3-2, in 14 innings at Dominion Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Ron Haney. Haney got the win, improving to 2-1. He gave up 1 hit and walked 1 over 5 innings. He allowed no runs. The 5th-place Hurons improved to 53-58.
The Hurons got a clutch hit from catcher Bob Bass. In the bottom of the 14th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Hurons.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Bass said.
