The San Diego Captains reigned over the Milwaukee Dairymen in damp conditions.
The San Diego Captains beat the Milwaukee Dairymen, 5-1. San Diego starter Mark Pike pitched a gem. Pike, who finished 5th in the NBL in wins with 16 last year, went the distance for San Diego. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits.
San Diego left fielder Randy Barnes contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 148th hit of the season and put the Captains ahead, 4-1.
