Ronnebaum Slugs Blockbusters to 8-6 Win
|
With left fielder Ernie Ronnebaum leading the charge, the Los Angeles Blockbusters defeated the Chicago Traders, 8-6, at Blockbuster Stadium. Ronnebaum, who led the NBL in OPS with 1.169 last year, hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. Fred Wild notched his 16th save in 25 chances. Today's win puts Los Angeles at 50-61, while Chicago falls to 55-56.
With Los Angeles leading 2-1 in the bottom of the third, Ronnebaum hit a curveball from Larry Cox for a 3-run home run. It was his 30th home run of the season and put the Blockbusters ahead, 5-1.
"Ernie leaves the last at-bat behind him, whether it was good or bad, and goes up there and competes on every pitch," said Los Angeles manager John Trausch.
