Dairymen Suffer 6-2 Road Loss
The San Diego Captains topped the Milwaukee Dairymen, 6-2, in National Baseball League action at San Diego Sporting Complex. The standout performance belonged to San Diego pitcher and Brooklyn, New York, native Ed Payne. Payne got the win, improving to 7-2. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The triumph puts San Diego at 60-53 for the season.

In the bottom of the first, Tom Row delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the San Diego shortstop hit a 2-run single, putting the Captains in front, 6-2.

Row told a San Diego Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
