Knickerbockers Improve to 59-54 with 4-2 Win
|
The New York Knickerbockers got a strong performance from pitcher Jack Forbes, who stymied the Philadelphia offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Knickerbocker Stadium. In 8.2 innings, Forbes surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Ollie Hundley was credited with the save, his 25th in 32 tries.
The Knickerbockers got a big at-bat from third baseman Ray Zink. For the game, Zink was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave New York a 4-2 lead.
"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Forbes.
With the victory, the Knickerbockers upped their record to 59-54.
