Bobcats Improve to 75-37 with 4-1 Win
Larry Messenger, who finished 5th in the NBL in wins with 17 in 1967, was terrific for the Cleveland Bobcats in his team's 4-1 triumph over the New York Knickerbockers. His performance earned Messenger rave reviews. In 6 innings, Messenger surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Joe Clabaugh closed it out for Cleveland, earning his 19th save.

Cleveland took a 4-1 lead on Alan Romano's 9th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Romano hit in the bottom of the seventh, left New York pitcher Ollie Hundley visibly frustrated.

"Larry gave us a really strong effort," said Cleveland manager Daniel Mays.

The win puts Cleveland at 75-37 this season.
