The 3-hit performance of Jeff Murchison, who finished 5th in the NBL in extra base hits with 58 in 1968, helped the Philadelphia Quakers beat the Cleveland Bobcats, 3-2. The win for the Quakers raised their record to 65-47.

Greg Russell had a direct impact on the outcome. Russell contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the sixth inning to put Philadelphia up, 2-1.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Murchison.
