Packers 8-5 Winners Over Washington
The Cincinnati Packers defeated the Washington Eagles, 8-5, in part because of first baseman Glenn Palmer. Palmer was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 for the Packers. Picking up the win was Jackie Richardson. He went 6 innings, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits. The left--hander struck out 2 and walked 0. Kenny Foster earned the save for Cincinnati.

Palmer got the Packers off to a quick start. In the top of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Cincinnati skipper Martin Abresch.

Today's win puts Cincinnati at 53-60, while Washington falls to 47-66.
