Hawks Take Down Habitants, 8-7
|
Roberto Alvarez had a good game, but he could not keep the Montreal Habitants from falling, 8-7, to the Chicago Hawks at LaSalle Stadium. The Montreal second baseman was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 in the loss. Montreal now has a record of 8-4.
Andy Bires drew 1 walk for Chicago. The 24-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the 12th. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring walk off Eric Roe. It was his 1st walk of the season.
"We maximized our offense today," said Chicago skipper Mike Flaherty. "That makes everyone's life easier."
