Boone Helps Emeralds Beat Seagulls, 10-4
|
The Seattle Emeralds defeated the San Francisco Seagulls, 10-4. Doing his part was left fielder Freddie Boone, who went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once. The win lifts Seattle to a record of 6-4.
The Seagulls had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Emeralds going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old second baseman Charlie Hall came to the plate. Hall hit a 3-run home run on a first pitch fastball from San Francisco hurler Jerry Patrick. It was Hall's 2nd home run of the year.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said San Francisco manager Al Borie.
