The Kansas City Bulls snuck past the San Diego Captains, 3-2, in 10 innings. Kansas City pitcher Pat Thornton, in particular, had a standout performance. The winner in relief was Bob Crosby. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 4-3. With the win, the Bulls sit at 63-50.

The Bulls got a clutch hit from third baseman Ken Giese. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Bulls.

During his postgame press conference, Bulls manager DD Martin told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
