Pobladores Come Up Short at Seattle, 2-1
The Seattle Emeralds scored a tight, 2-1 win versus the Los Angeles Pobladores at Puget Field. Seattle pitcher Fred Wild held his own in the contest. Wild, who finished 4th in the NBL in saves with 21 in 1971, went the distance for Seattle. He gave up 1 run on 10 hits. The Seattle win streak is now 3 games.

Rob Sylvia drew 1 walk for Seattle. The 27-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Rick Beasley. It was his 23rd RBI of the season.
