Quakers Turn Back Traders, 3-2
|
Philadelphia Quakers starter Mel Hartman hurled his team past the Chicago Traders, 3-2. The Traders fall to 4-8 and continue their unimpressive start to the 1972 season.
Fred Johnson, who is a three-time All-Star, had a direct impact on the outcome. Johnson contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Philadelphia up, 3-1.
Philadelphia manager Jeff Green called it "a darn good win."
